Frequently Asked Questions

Do you also organize OPEN GROUP WALKS or only PRIVATE GUIDED WALKS?

Unfortunately we do NOT have the resources right now to organize OPEN GROUP WALKS where we would add hikers together in a open group. We have given it tries in the past and we might do so in the future, but right now we are focusing on what we do best; PRIVATE GUIDED WALKS where we provide one guide for your party in exclusive.

Do you organize and provide HIKING HOLIDAY PACKAGES?

Yes we do! We offer both tailor-made quotes for PRIVATE GUIDED HIKING HOLIDAYS for all sizes of groups (starting from single travellers) on Mallorca as well as a few OPEN GROUP HIKING HOLIDAYS per year (please check out our HOLIDAY SECTION) where we join different hikers together for beautiful hikes in the Serra de Tramuntana on Mallorca. Our packages normally include: - Guided hikes - VAT - Civil liability and accident insurance - Accommodations with breakfast on Mallorca during your hiking holiday - On the hiking lodges (“Refugio”), if you wish, we can include dinner, breakfast, bed linen, towels, and picnic. - Luggage transfer between each accommodation (you only need to carry your daypack, food and water). However, if you wish to carry your equipment along the whole route and are physically prepared to do so, we can discount the cost of the luggage transfer from our quote. Our packages never include: - Flights to and from Mallorca - Transport (unless you specifically ask us to quote you for this separately – we will be happy to do so) - Any food, drinks, upgrades or extras that are not specifically detailed in our itinerary - The local tourist tax (eco-tax) that must be paid by each traveller upon check-in or check-out at each accommodation

Do you organize self-guided hikes?

Our speciality is guided hikes on Mallorca, we therefore do not offer totally self-guided hikes and we don’t have any road books. However, on a few occasions on private guided hiking holidays along the GR-221 The Dry Stones Route, upon request, we have done 50/50 deals where our clients (that where experienced with hiking and orientating by hiking map) have done a few of the day stages (the ones that are fully sign-posted) on this trek by themselves and the remaining ones with one of our guides (on stages that lack full sign posting OR offer great alternatives for “side escapes” up to mountain peaks etc.).

Do you offer only luggage transfer for hikes or bike trips?

Yes we do, please contact us if you are interested in this service. We will need to know the following information in order to be able to give you a quote: - The exact dates of your hikes - Exact names and location of your accommodations so that we know where we need to pick-up your luggage and where to deliver it as well as the timetable for picking up the luggage each day - Estimated amount of luggage (number of suitcases / big bags).

Am I allowed to bring my dog onto a guided hike with Mallorca Hiking?

Unfortunately we do not allow for dogs or pets to come along on our hikes.

Are children able to join hikes guided by Mallorca Hiking?

Yes, we are really happy to welcome all ages and family members onto our hikes, however, when small children are involved, the hike must be a private guided hike (not an open group walk where the age limit is set to 12) so that our guide can exclusively adapt to the needs of the smallest hikers in the group. Parents must let us know in advance if children are coming to hike (age and experience of hiking for each child). It`s the parents responsibility to bring hiking-carry-on-bags for their children and to carry their children if and when its needed. No child will never under any circumstances be carried by our guides. Please take into account the length, duration and difficulty level of the hike you are booking if you have got children in your party.

What happens if forecast is showing rain on the day we have booked a hike?

Please read about our payment conditions, cancellation policy and health and safety rules in the section of prices and conditions under OUR WALKS or under TERMS AND CONDITIONS at the bottom of this page.

What is the difference between an OPEN GROUP HIKE and a PRIVATE GUIDED HIKE?

The difference between an OPEN OPEN GROUP HIKE and a PRIVATE GUIDED HIKE are several: - If you choose to book a PRIVATE GUIDED HIKE with us, it means that our Mallorca Hiking guide is exclusively guiding your party and we will not add more external participants into this group, therefore the price for a PRIVATE GUIDED HIKE is also higher than the price for an OPEN GROUP HIKE where we join different hikers together on the same hike. - If you choose to book a a PRIVATE GUIDED HIKE with us, it also means that you can select the hike you would like to do (or ask us for our advice – we will recommend the best hike available for your party) on the day that you wish to hike on (we will always try to adapt to our your wishes regarding dates – however on occasional dates during high season we get fully booked and we will therefore suggest another nearby available date for you). If you book an OPEN GROUP HIKE you will have to adapt to the hike that we have been selected for a specific date (see our OPEN GROUP HIKE calendar). - Transport is not included in any of our hikes, but if you wish, we can quote you separately for an external private transportation for your hike if you wish (please contact us in this case). We suggest the following ways of transport to arrive to the starting points of our hike: public transport, sharing a taxi or renting a car.
